Tobey Maguire – From Horse Racing to Auto Racing
The cinematic sporting life of Tobey Maguire goes from race track to race track. The actor’s next starring vehicle, literally, is about the exciting world of grand prix auto racing.
The star of the brilliant horse racing saga “Seabiscuit” will be featured in a film based on Michael Cannell’s forthcoming book “Limit”, which is the story of long-time friends and rivals Phil Hill and Wolfgang von Trips, who compete for glory as Ferrari teammates during the 1961 Drivers Championship.
Despite a tremendous worldwide following and thrills that are film-friendly, auto racing has simply not had a great recent history on the silver screen. Released over 40 years ago, the best movie in this realm remains Grand Prix. The triple Oscar-winner stars James Garner, an American competing on the largely European circuit.
Maguire will also produce the picture for Columbia along with Mandalay Entertainment.

Seems auto racing would be terrific in the movies, why hasnt that been the case?
lets hope Tobey has better luck in his car than Emile did in Speed Racer
Hollywood needs another Steve McQueen, an actor that is also naturally talented behind the wheel.
