Yankee Colors: The Glory Years of the Mantle Era
Depicting the greatness of not only one of baseball’s, but all of team sports franchises, is on vibrant display in this pictorial history of the New York Yankees.
Roughly covering the team’s golden age, from 1949 to 1964, when they won fourteen pennants and nine world championships, the New York Yankees shine brightly in this fine collection of material covering everything from spring training to Old Timers’ Day.
Both great action and rare behind-the-scenes moments are captured here with separate chapters on several world series. In addition to such Yankee greats as Joe DiMaggio, Whitey Ford and The Mick, Yankee Colors also showcases baseball stars Jackie Robinson, Sandy Koufax, Hank Aaron and Willie Mays.
Using rare color photographs taken by noted photographer Marvin Newman, a longtime contributor to Sports Illustrated and close friend of Mickey Mantle, accompanied by text written by bestselling sportswriter Al Silverman (Gale Sayers’ “I Am Third”), with a forward by Yogi Berra, the publishers at Abrams have assembled a gem that is fitting to a brilliant dynasty.

I have this book and you dont have to be a Yankees fan to enjoy the great pictures and text. I’ve been up all night going through it. Great for fans who grew up in this era.
