The popular endorser of the “grip-it-and-rip-it” style of golf, 43 year-old double major winner, John Daly will return to the PGA Tour next month after a six-month suspension.
He has played eight times overseas during his suspension, including a month in Europe, where he tied for second in the Italian Open.
Daly was suspended for six months in November after a series of off-course incidents that brought negative publicity, the latest a picture of him in an orange jail suit with his eyes half-closed after being locked up to get sober in North Carolina. This was the second time the tour has suspended him for unbecoming conduct. Two other times, he agreed to sit out to get his life in order.
”I don’t really feel I deserved to be suspended,” Daly said. ”But I’m not going to dwell on it. I’m going to turn it into a positive. I’m getting my life back in order and I’m more organized.”
Daly hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since the Buick Invitational five years ago, and he has not kept his card the last two years, having to rely on sponsor exemptions and tournaments where he won, such as the British Open and PGA Championship.
The former British Open champion has gone through a lot since his storybook win at Crooked Stick 18 years ago as a ninth alternate in the PGA Championship. He has been to alcohol rehab twice and is going through his third divorce.
A uniquely talented player, Daly, planning to return in three weeks for the St. Jude Championship and U.S. Open qualifying, knows he has been given a lot of chances but he’s out of mulligans so before he lets it rip, he needs to get a grip.

Dude, has taken his talents for granted for too long.
how may times can one hit bottom? The guy’s talent with the blades is undeniable. I cant imagine where he’d be without them.
