Basketball Hall of Famer-turned-Author Gets the Hollywood Treatment

While he is busy tutoring current Lakers center Andrew Bynum in the ways of life inside the paint and dealing with the pressures of playoff basketball, Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s book is on its way to becoming a motion picture. “Brothers in Arms,” a nonfiction tome by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Anthony Walton, tells the story of how the unit overcame prejudice and sought to prove themselves on the battlefield by spearheading the Allied Forces’ drive eastward toward Germany during the Battle of the Bulge. Houston-Los Angeles Game 7: Which Lakers Team Will Show Up?

The late Chick Hearn, longtime voice of the Lakers, must be going crazy in hoop heaven. Of his many phrases that describe any element of play for a given moment, the most apt for the Lakers as they head into today’s showdown with the Rockets would be- ‘defense on vacation’, ‘my grandmother could guard him, and she can’t go to her left’, or ‘they couldn’t beat the Sisters of Mercy’ [...]

Still there can be no doubt as to who the fastest horse is at this time….and it is a lady. The two-time Derby winning-jockey all but guaranteed victory in the Preakness Stakes and, boy, did she deliver. It has been 85 years since a filly won the second leg of the Triple Crown. [...]

With only Chicago through to the next round after their exciting six game series against Vancouver, all three remaining matchups come down to a seventh game. Facing elimination, the Ducks returned to the form that carried the team to a league-best 10-2-1 mark in the final weeks of the season, then through a first-round upset of the Presidents’ Trophy-winning San Jose Sharks.
