Beginning tomorrow and running for a week and a half more than 200 films from 30 countries, including sneak previews from major studios and summer specialty releases will be presented in some of the finest theaters in Los Angeles.
Major releases debuting at the festival are “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” from Michael Bay and Johnny Depp starring as the Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger in “Public Enemies”.
Films with sporting elements on the docket include:
-FACING ALI
A documentary portrait of 10 men who fought one of the all-time great heavyweight champions, Muhammad Ali, provides an intriguing look at both the man and the sport.
-BIG RIVER MAN
Endurance swimming has not received a lot of screen time but this epic follows a middle-aged man, a hard-drinking Slovenian, Martin Strel, as he attempts to swim the length of the massive and perilous Amazon River.
Movies in various formats- shorts, documentaries, narrative- covering cult classics, future filmmaker showcases, music videos, special screenings with extended behind-the-scenes conversations and an international spotlight will make up the bulk of the program. Additionally there will be conferences, coffee talks and “poolside chats” about film financing, art&film, and conversation with writers, actors and directors.
