One always hears about actors who were supposed to have the lead role but for various reasons it went to someone else. I'm sure sports movies are no different. I wonder if Burt Reynolds was the first choice for "The Longest Yard" or Kevin Costner for "Field of Dreams". They were great but you also wonder if fate has something to do with it.
