Major League Baseball: 2009 All-Star Game
The 80th edition of major league baseball’s all-star game plays out later today in St. Louis. The event, which began in 1933 at Comiskey Park in Chicago and featured a two-run homer by Babe Ruth to give the junior circuit the win, has been held in this Missouri city four times.
The last All-Star game held here was in 1966 at brand new Busch Memorial Stadium where, despite the blistering heat (rising above 105′), fans were treated to some fine pitching from the likes of Denny McLain, Juan Marichal and Sandy Koufax. The Dodgers’ Maury Wills singled home the Cardinals’ Tim McCarver in the 10th inning to give the National League a 2-1 victory.
The Midsummer Classic kicks off at 8 p.m. ET and will be nationally televised on FOX. President and White Sox fan Barack Obama will throw out the first pitch. Joe Maddon of the Tampa Bay Rays and Charlie Manuel of the Philadelphia Phillies will manage their respective AL and NL squads.

This is team sports best all-star game ever since Ruth hit that homer in the very first one.
When was the last time a President threw out a ball at an all-star game?
I think the NL wins based on better pitching.
I agree with Carlos, NL pitching looking good, plus Pujols will impress the home crowd.
Hey an exciting game, NL had their chances. Cant wait to get tickets to see next year’s game in Anaheim.
I’m glad world series home field is determined by the all star outcome.
