Usain Bolt Breaks Own 200 Meter World Record
Displaying the same dominance as he did at the sport’s marquee event at the Summer Olympics in Beijing, the Jamaican flyer flew into the records books yesterday by setting a world record in the 200 meter race at the World Championships in Berlin.
Bolt’s time of 19.19 clipped .11 seconds off the mark he set last year at the Beijing Olympics and came four days after he broke his 100 record by the same margin.
“I was running my heart out,” Bolt said. “I got my start right and that was the key. And when I got the start I knew was fine.”
Is Bolt the Greatest Ever?
And what a start. Out of the blocks the fastest of the competitors, if Bolt manages consistency in that area which had been considered one of the chinks in his armor, then there is no telling how dominant he can be.
A distant second was Alonso Edward of Panama, 0.62 seconds behind Bolt. Wallace Spearmon of the United States took bronze.
Bolt is now 5 for 5 in the world’s biggest sprint events. He won the gold in the 100, 200 and sprint relay in Beijing’s Bird Nest, each time with a world record. It doesn’t get any better than that.

I’ve always growin up wanting to be a world class sprinter, but even though I never achieved greatness, I have certainly seen it in theform of Mr. Bolt. a truly gifted man.

The Jamaicans have a long line of great sprinters, but Bolt is clearly the best.
I’m here in Berlin to watch the track championships and I can tell you the stadium was never louder. what an awesome feat.
If China can produce world class hurdlers I wonder if that will spill over into pure sprints.
Bolt, by any measure, is the greatest sprinter ever.
Imagine if he had someone like Carl Lewis in his prime pushing him.

did you hear Crawford’s comments. he came in 4th and said it wa like watching a video game, Bolt was going so fast. Like everyone else was in slo-mo.
