On October 14, 2009 the Tour de France organizers released the map for the 2010 tour. 2010 marks the 100th anniversary of the Tour’s first time through the Pyrenees. The 2010 Tour will be more brutal than average, really separating the players, beginning with a short 8 km prologue in Rotterdam and culminating with the only time trial (51 km) from Bordeaux to Pauillac 19 stages later.

The stages break out as:
1 prologue (8km),
9 flat stages,
6 mountain stages and 3 summit finishes,
4 medium mountain stages,
1 individual time-trial stage (51 km).
The tour organizers have even decided to climb leTourmalet twice (separated by a rest day) and threw in some cobblestones for good measure. With 4 high mountain stages and a 51 km time trial waiting at the end, strategy and energy management will be keys to success.
