Jimmie Johnson Wins a Fourth Straight NASCAR Title
Jimmie Johnson showed his mettle by moving up and finishing fifth over the weekend at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, when 25th place would have still clinched the championship – his fourth straight.
Johnson won seven races this season, four after the Chase began in September, and with the powerful Hendricks Team behind him there’s talk he is the auto racing equivalent of Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong and Roger Federer as a dominant performer in his sport.
In earning the quadruple titles, Johnson joins Richard Petty (7), Dale Earnhardt (7) and teammate Jeff Gordon (4) as the only drivers to win more than three titles.
Johnson is not through and will be plenty motivated in a “Drive for 5″.
