Rocky: The Undisputed Collection on DVD
More than 30 years after the original motion picture, “Rocky” continues to be recognized as a film icon and American hero where a “nobody” becomes a “somebody”. This definitive collection that features Sylvester Stallone as Philadelphia club fighter Rocky Balboa includes each film version as well as a bonus disc with hours of documentaries, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and a new trivia game.
Fox and MGM’s new ROCKY: THE UNDISPUTED COLLECTION sports the previous “Rocky” and “Rocky Balboa” Blu-Ray discs, along with the Blu-Ray debuts of sequels “Rocky” II, III, IV and V, plus a bonus disc comprised primarily of the special features from the first movie’s 2006 Special Edition DVD release.
-ROCKY (1976) appears here in its original Blu-Ray release from 2006.
-ROCKY II (1979) continues the story of Stallone’s Italian Stallion in a more inflated, but generally entertaining follow up. Making its Blu-Ray debut here, the technical elements and overall presentation are superior to the first “Rocky.”
-ROCKY III (1982) was another success for Stallone at the box-office, but presented in a more glitzy fashion where, like version IV would get away a bit from the character-driven elements that made it a smash hit debut back in ‘76.
-ROCKY IV (1985) features Dolph Lundgren as Russian Ivan Drago in a 91-minute movie that looks and plays out like an extended music video.
-ROCKY V (1990) brings Philly’s favorite boxer back to his roots with a character-intensive story, written by Stallone and directed by John Avildsen who helmed the original.
-ROCKY BALBOA (2006) brings Stallone’s iconic character back to the screen in a fitting story written and directed by the star himself.
Yo…ho ho!

Rocky, the original is undeniably one of the all-time great boxing flicks but sadly it went downhill after that. Tough to match.
Powderking is right. Rocky truly stands out among all the sequels but I thought at least it ended well, sort of full circle.
