Coinciding with the annual tip off into March Madness, ESPN will air a new film next weekend about one of college basketball’s more memorable teams.
Directed by Jason Hehir (“Jose Canseco: The Last Shot”), “The Fab Five” is a two-hour film about one of the most famous—and infamous—teams in college basketball history.
Arriving on the campus of the University of Michigan in the fall of 1991, the five freshmen— Juwan Howard, Jimmy King, Ray Jackson, Chris Webber and Jalen Rose (also the producer) —not only electrified the game, but also brought new style to the masses with their baggy shorts, black socks and brash talk.
In reliving those days the players give their perspective on:
*the recruitment process that got them to Ann Arbor
*the cultural impact they made
*the two runs to the NCAA title game
*the Webber “timeout” that cost them the 1993 championship
*the scandal that eventually tarnished their accomplishments
The Fab Five
Premieres Sunday, March 13, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN
