Wembley Stadium will be a rockin’ place Saturday night as some of the world’s greatest soccer talents go toe-to-toe that could make this a classic clash of the titans - Manchester United vs. Barcelona.
Man U, losers to Barcelona two years ago in Rome, are underdogs despite having reached a third final in four seasons.
But up and down the pitch, both teams are loaded with game-breakers and scoring artisans.
Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez, Park Ji-Sung and Antonio Valencia (playing superbly since returning from a broken leg last September) will have to be at their attacking best going up against Barcelona’s Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique (German great Franz Beckenbauer calls him “the best defender in the world” and the Catalan press nicknamed him Piquenbauer) and netminder Victor Valdes who has just won Spain’s Zamora award for the best goalkeeper, his fourth, with a brilliant record of 16 goals conceded in 32 games.
United defenders will have their hands full all night in central midfield with Xavi and Andres Iniesta. They have some security knowing Edwin Van der Sar, even at 40 years and the oldest Champions League finalist, remains a premiere goalkeeper.
Still the performance of the biggest talent of them all will likely determine who wins the match.
PREDICTION: Lionel Messi, the best player in the world, The Champions League top scorer for the last three seasons with an amazing 52 goals and 24 assists in 54 games will lead his team to victory at Wembley (where United first won the European Cup in 1968) thus cementing this Barcelona unit as one of the greatest clubs of all-time.
Barcelona 2, Manchester United, 1.
