Second baseman Roberto Alomar, pitcher Bert Blyleven and former General Manager Pat Gillick were inducted into baseball’s hall of fame over the weekend.
The Hall of Fame Class of 2011:
Roberto Alomar –
The 12-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winning second baseman played for 7 different franchises and was part of the Toronto championship teams of 1992 and 1993.
Bert Blyleven –
A 287-game winning pitcher with 242 complete games and 60 shutouts, the two-time all-star with one of the best curveballs ever, ranks fifth on the all-time strikeout list with 3,701.
Pat Gillick -
The former minor-league pitcher worked for four franchises as a General Manager. In his 27 seasons, 20 with winning records, teams reached the postseason 11 times. He was general manager when the Blue Jays won World Series titles in 1992 and 1993 and the Phillies in 2008.
