Will the SEC will extend its streak to six straight BCS national championships?
In the SEC West, Alabama is looking good despite the loss of solid starting quarterback Greg McElroy and 2009 Heisman winner Mark Ingram, and will look even better if senior linebacker Courtney Upshaw can overcome an ankle injury from last season. Junior running back Trent Richardson is Alabama’s key threat as the offensive line returns four of five starters. Look for Nick Saban to roll his Tide through any opposition.
Arkansas will be comforted knowing they have one of the most prolific tacklers in Razorback history in linebacker Jerry Franklin. Going into his senior year he’s improved his count with each season- improved on his tackle total every year. He had 87 as a redshirt freshman, 94 as a sophomore and 100 last season as a junior.
The Tigers of LSU, despite the problems with quarterback Jordan Jefferson and receiver Russell Shepard, will have a super weapon in running back Spencer Ware. He’ll get you a 1,000 yards rushing but can also catch and throw.
In the SEC East, South Carolina’s strength comes from the brilliant running and receiving tandem of Marcus Lattimore and Alshon Jeffery. In 2010 Lattimore had 1,197 rushing yards and 412 receiving yards, while Jeffery racked up over 1500 receiving yards.
The Gamecocks could slide past Georgia and Florida. The Dawgs are led by the improved quarterback Aaron Murray while Florida has a new leader at the helm with Will Muschamp inheriting a talented roster from Urban Meyer.
Look for the Gainesville Gators to take the East and Alabama the West.
