50 cent Football Film Scores a Distributor

All Things Fall Apart, a drama that tells the story of a Heisman-bound college football star whose career hits a wall when he is diagnosed with a tumor only inches from his heart, has been picked up by Image Entertainment which has secured all U.S. rights.

Directed by Mario Van Peebles, the film stars Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Ray Liotta.

Jackson, the rapper-turned-actor actor reportedly lost 80 pounds for the role.

“50 lost so much weight I started calling him 25 Cent,” jokes Van Peebles. “But what impressed me was his willingness to evolve past his rap persona and totally commit to his first dramatic lead without relying on guns. No backup, this is 50 like you have never seen him.”

The movie, which has screened at several festivals, is being eyed for an early 2012 theatrical opening followed by a home entertainment, VOD, digital and broadcast release under the company’s One Village label.
