Director Morgan Spurlock, who exposed the fast food industry in his documentary Super Size Me, sets his sights on the ultra-competitive world of professional sports agents in ESPN Films’ new documentary, The Dotted Line, premiering on Tuesday.
Timely in a big business of lockouts, labor negotiations and million dollar endorsement deals, The Dotted Line, a sort of Hard Knocks for sports agents, takes us inside the NFL, the NBA and MLB labor side to explore the turbulent and emotional ups and downs of recruiting, marketing, and negotiating record-breaking contracts for their clients. The film also explores recent NCAA agent scandals and the complex issues that can arise when college athletes turn pro.
Among those profiled are agents Peter Greenberg and Eugene Lee along with their clients New York Mets’ pitcher Johan Santana and NFL hopefuls Jacquian Williams and Robert Hughes.
