Paramount Pictures’ New Lance Armstrong Movie

Paramount Pictures and producer J.J. Abrams plan on making a motion picture about disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong.

Bad Robot, Abrams’ production company, and the studio have secured the rights to New York Times sports reporter Julie Macur’s upcoming book, “Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong”.

Macur has covered Armstrong since he made news more than a decade ago with his cancer battles, ongoing doping denials and through his recent admission to Oprah Winfrey of his extended use of illegal performance-enhancing substances that helped fuel a record seven Tour De France titles.

Hollywood has had several Armstrong projects in development over the years. One of the more recent ones was through Sony Pictures with Jake Gyllenhaal set to portray the cyclist.

Though no casting has been announced, in a recent BBC News report, actor Bradley Cooper stated, “I would be interested in that. I think he’s fascinating. What a fascinating character.”
