Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Baseball’s Greatest Pitching Duel

Approaching one o’clock in the morning on July 3, 1962,  in a mid-week, mid-season game at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park, two future hall-of-fame pitchers, Juan Marichal and Warren Spahn had just pitched 16 innings each in a game that ended with a home run by another future Hall of Famer, Willie Mays.
