Baseball’s Midsummer Classic returns to Anaheim Tuesday for the third time since the All-Star Game began in 1933, but the event has changed quite a bit since the city first hosted the exhibition (in 1967 when the NL won in dramatic fashion on a Tony Perez home run in the 15th inning).

Atlanta Braves Pitching, long a Braves forte, has Derek Lowe heading the rotation and Tom Glavine returning as the 5th starter.

The challenge for Bobby Cox, now entering his 20th year at the helm, is getting some consistent pop beyond Larry “Chipper” Jones. Veteran Garrett Anderson, when healthy, provides some heft as does switch-hitting catcher Brian McCann (.301, 87 RBIs).

American League – West

Los Angeles Angels Entering season his10th at the helm, Mike Scioscia has the talent to go a long way this year. Mostly through it’s bevy of power pitching which includes the acquisition of perplexing reliever Brian Fuentes and return of Kelvin Escobar who missed all of last year with a shoulder injury.
